Located on a steep West Vancouver slope with expansive views to the water and the city of Vancouver, this sleek single family residence and its landscape are designed by architectural firm Battersby Howat. All glass and concrete, this house seems to float in the surrounding garden. An intricate matrix of meadow plants offers a year-round continuum of interest : from drifts of botanical tulips and camas to high Summer daisies and grasses, then back to vibrant twig dogwoods. Of modest needs for water and fertilizer, this garden is also mulched with most of its own green waste, for a truly sustainable composition.
