Graciously offered by a neighbor, this hell’s strip is now home to a seed-grown experimental meadow. This initiative was born out of a desire to adapt this trend of meadow gardening to the realities of both the wet and mild Pacific Northwest and the big-city context. With most plants peaking just above knee height, and with an extended season of interest, this species-rich medley of native and exotic plants is a magnet for bees. Grown on a sand base without any added organic content, this hell’s strip thrives with minimal watering yet delivers big.
