Sited on a long corner lot, this single family residence and its landscape underwent a quasi-total makeover orchestrated by Battersby Howat. Architectural interventions were implemented in order to create a variety of vignettes out onto the three main thematic areas of the garden. The front is occupied by a large berm coiffed with charismatic pine trees, a mature grove of vine maples and a low mantle of grassy plants. Fully exposed to the south-west sun, the main side is traversed by a skinny meandering path that leads to and from a large central patio. Chinese redbuds punctuate this colorful, if narrow, mostly herbaceous garden. In the privacy of the backyard, a more traditional garden pours into the house by large unobstructed windows.
