Burrard STreet

landscape renovation | lower shaughnessy

This heritage home renovation included major upgrades to its outdoor spaces, including a new front entry, improved foot circulation, new back deck and levelled play area, and reinvented plantings. The well-established yet choice selection of woody plants and abundant aged clay bricks found onsite became key elements of the new design, seamlessly woven into the landscape to create a secret garden full of discoveries.

The backyard’s weathering-steel retaining wall creates a defined perimeter for the newly levelled lawn while serving as a striking contrast to the lush, abundant plantings within.

White-flowering dogwoods introduce a forested ambiance to the front, complemented by a low, meticulously curated mix of woodland plantings. In the backyard, mature windmill palms jostle with tree peonies and beefy rhododendrons and set the tone for a super lush, semi-tropical bonanza.

A young loquat tree reaches up at to the lush seasonal planting on the top deck.
