Grand boulevard

new build | lonsdale

Located in a quiet neighbourhood, this project was developed for an avid gardener. Following the construction of a new, high-performance house and a backyard art studio, the gardens were reinvented with privacy and interest towards nature in mind. Three main spaces resulted from this process: a more traditional frontyard, a secretive jungly side yard, and a pocket meadow+vegetated driveway in the back.

creating a meadow-inspired garden in a small space is possible but requires a neatly tailored selection of plants, plants that need to be layered as to ensure year-round interest.

These warm-season grasses age gracefully and stand proud until mid-winter, when they are cut back to make room for spring bulbs.

In the side yard, hardy Schefflera skyrocket gracefully, Podophyllums deploy their marbled foliage, and evergreen ferns and sedges add long-lasting textures.
