This pocket-size front garden was created more than 15 years ago, on a shoestring, and has since turned into one of our longer-lasting, most rewarding planting interventions. Basking in full sun and watered during the driest spells only, this garden remains a neighbourhood favourite.

A derelict lawn was stripped and replaced with a loose assemblage of affordable, easily-sourced perennials, four neatly clipped boxwoods and a single old rose.
